Dreams are not what you see at night, but what prevent you from going to sleep" - Wings of Fire
Sometimes it is not just your waking aspirations that keep you up at night but also higher powers in the universe that may communicate through dreams.
*Are you okay?* Text
I left a text at 3am in the morning. On time for his early morning schedule to wake up in his time zone.
*Yeah. It’s probably late at night back home. Why are you up ?*Text
*Pehle maine puchha na.Tu bhai hai mera, ab bata kya hua* Text
*Nothing is, and yeah I am doubting my own decision of taking up this project.* Text
What ensued was a long talk till 8am in the morning. I never knew how, but I could always sense when something was off. Sibling connection I thought. But it got weirder when it expanded to more than just sensing uneasiness and stress.
*How do you know I didn’t eat my dinner?* Text
*Well, I have my way of knowing things* Text
*I am on a different continent, it’s not like you can peek into my room and know my plates weren’t cleared* Text
I didn’t have an answer to that question of my brother’s. I often saw things in my sleep that I could not make any sense of. Events that were either taking place in real time without my knowledge or events that would unfold at a later time which I had no way to know.
*Incoming voice call*
“Hi Bhena, Kya chal raha hai?”
“Sab thik?”
“Haan, Sab thik. Tu bata kya chal ra hai? Khana wana nahi khaya jara..”
“Hmmm….. Bas neend lagg gyi and takeaway table pe hi rakha reh gya”
“Dekha maine isilye puchha”
“But teko kaise malum? Wahaan to abhi shaam hogi na?”
“I dunno, I took a nap in the day time and saw you sleeping while your food waited on the table”
“Well that happened. But I’m gonna pretend you did not just say that”
“Ohhoo ladka humara kati ingliss hogya….hehehehe”
We both laughed and exchanged pleasantries, catching up on how the covid situation was in Newark and in New Delhi. Typical sibling banter about food and annoying habits of parents. But I could sense something was not sitting right, these clear vision/ dreams do not come for a reason.
My mind raced back to this one workshop I attended years ago at school, about dreams. The presenter had talked about how Joseph and his dreams/ visions had had relevance in history and had concluded his talk quoting the example of his friend in India who saw in her dream her family member walking on a bridge and in tears, at the exact same time as they were doing the same thing for real in London. She got to know of it as she called them at the very moment she woke up, uncanny as it sounds, it does force one to wonder what may lie beyond.
Fine work!!so relatable 😌
